May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and explore ways to support mental well-being. At Northwest Mental Health Management Services (NWMH), we are dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and promoting mental health in our community.​



Here are some ways you can get involved in the Portland area this May:​

1. NAMIWalks Northwest Join the region's largest mental health event on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Peninsula Park in North Portland. Enjoy live music, food carts, therapy animals, and more while supporting mental health awareness. 




2. STAND: Celebrate the Life & Art of Bob Volke Attend this free event on May 8, 2025, from 5:00–8:00 PM at Keen Footwear HQ. Hosted by Cascadia Health, it features art, community, and conversations to stand against mental health stigma. 




3. Change the Narrative Gala Support mental health and housing services at New Narrative's annual gala on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 4:30–6:30 PM at The Loft at 8th Avenue. Enjoy a cocktail hour and performance by Poison Waters. ​




4. Brighter Futures Celebration Participate in Trillium Family Services' event honoring Mental Health Awareness Month. Details for the 2025 celebration will be available on their website. ​https://www.trilliumfamily.org/
