August is National Wellness Month – Let’s Celebrate Whole-Person Wellbeing Together

Updated: 16 hours ago

At Northwest Mental Health, wellness isn’t just a buzzword—it’s the heartbeat of what we do.

Throughout the month of August, we join a nationwide movement celebrating National Wellness Month, a time dedicated to building healthy habits, boosting self-care, and focusing on whole-person wellbeing.

Why Wellness Matters to Us

Our mission is to support individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) in leading full and rewarding lives. For us, that means creating an environment where every person we serve has the tools, support, and encouragement to thrive, not just survive.

Wellness looks different for everyone. It might be:

  • A nature walk in the Columbia River Gorge

  • Cooking a favorite meal with a support staff

  • Participating in a community art project

  • Attending a local event or concert

  • Building a daily routine that brings peace and purpose

Whether it’s through personal care, social outings, fitness, or simply helping someone attend a class or appointment, our focus remains the same: empower each person to navigate their life with success and fulfillment.
